Hasip Pektas was born in Ermenek in 1953. He graduated from Gazi Teacher Training Institue in 1974 and until 1982, he worked as an Art Teacher in both Teacher Training Colleges and High Schools. Between 1982 and 1987, he worked in Department of Graphic Art Faculty of Education 19 Mayis University, Samsun. He worked as a Professor at Hacettepe University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Graphic Design in 1987-2007. He has also been working hard to make ex-libris well-known in Turkey. He was Vice Dean of Faculty of Fine Arts Hacettepe University in 2001-2003. He was Dean of Faculty of Fine Arts Hacettepe University in 2003-2006. He was the Faunding Director of Hacettep Art Museum in 2005-2007. He worked as a Professor at Işik University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Visual Communication Design Department in 2008-2017. He is working as a Professor at İstinye University,    Faculty of Communication and Head of    Visual Communication Design Department. He is the President of Istanbul Ex-libris Society and Museum

He has written one book about "Ex-libris". His works published in "Graphia" and "Boekmerk" in Belgium, in "Bookplates in the News" in USA , in "Exlibriskunst und Graphic" in Germany, in "Bookplate Journal" in England and in "Exlibris Aboensis" in Finland. His works have been accepted into the Ex-libris Museums of Denmark, Belgium, China and Italy. He has done thirty three solo exhibitions and has participated in some group exhibitions. He has run a lot of workshops about ex-libris. He has gave some courses of lecture in Belgium, Gent Royal Akademy as an Erasmus Professor. He has organized 6 International Ex-libris Competitions in 2003, 2007, 2010, 2018, 2022 and 2025, International Printmaking Biennial, 33rd FISAE International Ex-libris Congress, National Student Ex-libris Competition, and 2 National Ex-libris Congresses.
